It started with a baby girl and a memory.

In August 2018, three months pregnant, I found out I was having a daughter — and I immediately knew two things: I was going to braid her hair, and there would be beads.

I grew up wearing hair beads. I loved them. But I also remembered what nobody talks about: the weight, the clacking, the hard plastic pressing into your neck when you sleep. So before she was even born, I went looking for a softer version of the beads I wore as a kid.

They didn't exist.

I searched everywhere. Nothing was soft, nothing was quiet, nothing was made with little heads in mind. When I told someone what I was looking for, they said something that changed everything: "Just make it."

So I did — but it took years. I researched materials. I contacted manufacturers. I learned more about silicone than I ever expected to know. By 2022, I was finally holding samples of the bead I'd been imagining... and honestly? They were bad. Really bad. The softness wasn't there. The sizing was off. But every failed sample taught me exactly what the right bead needed to be.

In 2023, I found the manufacturer who got it right. The first time I held a finished Flexiebead — soft, silent, light as air — I knew it was ready for the world.

Flexiebeads exists because I wanted one simple thing for my daughter: a soft, safe, stylish, quiet hair bead she could run, jump, and play in — without pain, without noise, without compromise. Now it's yours too.
